Plantar Fasciitis
Heel Pain
About Plantar Fasciitis
Heel pain is often caused by plantar fasciitis, although other things, such as stress fractures or nerve injuries, can be to blame. The plantar fascia is a thick connective tissue structure extending over the underside of the foot and its function is to help support the foot arch.
.
The Main Causes
The main causes of mechanical plantar fasciitis are related to poor control of the foot during weight bearing. Plantar fasciitis may also occur in the high arched foot and results from the inability to dissipate force.
While a problem or injury to the foot structure is the most common cause of plantar fasciitis, it often also results from wearing shoes that are worn out or not designed for the sport you’re participating in.
